Rider Levett Bucknall (RLB) has celebrated a hat trick of
regional completions beginning with a new head office for the UK's
leading recycling and waste management company, Veolia
Environmental Services.
Appointed to the scheme by Opus Land as employer's agent and
quantity surveyor, RLB completed the prestigious £7.5m
project in 47 weeks working with Vinci Construction to deliver the
40,000 sq ft, three storey building.
The new Kingswood Lakeside headquarters in Cannock will be home
to 400 staff and energy efficient and sustainable features such as
roof mounted solar panels, a rainwater collection system and light
sensors ensured the project achieved a BREEAM Excellent
rating.
The second project in the hat trick portfolio is the completion
of the Manufacturing Technology Centre (MTC) built at Ansty Park
r&d site in the West Midlands. RLB provided cost management and
CDMC services on the world class research and development centre,
which marks the next stage of innovation and manufacturing in the
region.
The 12,000 m2 centre, will support UK manufacturing companies
and their supply chain to facilitate huge improvements in
manufacturing competitiveness and provide them with a high quality
research environment.
The £30m redevelopment of Edgbaston Cricket Ground
completes the hat trick, and the new home of Warwickshire County
Cricket Club was officially opened in July this year by HRH The
Duke of Edinburgh.
RLB provided project management and quantity surveying services
to Birmingham-based developer MCD and delivered the scheme in time
for the test match against India. The revamp has seen capacity
increased to 25,000 as well as improved facilities for fans,
players and the media.
Mark Weaver, managing partner for Rider Levett Bucknall in
Birmingham said "We are delighted to have been involved in such
significant projects for the region all of which have benefitted
from our Responsible Management approach.
"Responsible management is about being corporately responsible,
carbon efficient, meeting sustainability targets and reducing costs
with more efficient assets.
"With sustainable buildings estimated to have a 25% higher
occupancy rate, corporate sustainability improving the bottom line
for businesses in the region of 7% and a gearing up of most firms
to be ready when economic recovery arrives, Rider Levett Bucknall
is without doubt responding to a very vibrant interest in this area
and the obvious benefits it brings."
