Worcestershire based Barberry Developments has announced the
completion of phase two of its £1 million transformation of
the Phoenix Retail Park in Swansea, South Wales.
The refurbishment of the 20,000 sq ft former Halfords store was
completed in August and new tenants could be up and running in time
for Christmas. With retail chains B&M and Home Bargains already
successfully operating from the retail park, there are now up to
four units available, ranging from 2,000 sq ft to 35,000 sq ft.
Barberry, which acquired the first generation retail park in
2007, has carried out an extensive refurbishment of the retail park
including replacing external cladding, internal refurbishment and
improved access and car park layout. It is a well-established
shopping destination with nearby retailers including Tesco Extra,
Go Outdoors, Comet and Carpet Right.
Martyn Cartwright, director of Barberry, said: "As the project
was a refurbishment not a rebuild, we are able to offer lower rents
of £15-£16 per sq ft, rather than an average of
£25 for the Swansea area. We are already in talks with
several potential tenants who hope to secure a unit and open in
time for the peak festive season."
Phoenix Retail Park is ideally located within four miles of
Swansea city centre and has excellent access to junctions 44/45 of
the M4. Barberry gained planning permission to improve the access
roads from Phoenix Way into the retail park including a new access
road from Fendrod Way to the front of the scheme.
