Business professionals from across Shropshire put their general
knowledge to the test to help raise almost £1,000 for local
charities.
The quiz was organised by the Shropshire and Mid Wales branch of
the Institute of Legal Executives and the Shrewsbury Young
Professionals group, and around 125 people took part.
Organiser Sophie Davies is the vice-chairman and treasurer of
the ILEX branch, and is a senior legal assistant at Martin-Kaye
Solicitors, in Telford.
"We wanted to raise cash for local organisations and invited all
local law firms, and other local businesses to attend, and we were
delighted with the response we had," she said.
The event was held at The Lord Hill Hotel, in Shrewsbury, and
the money raised will be split between Severn Hospice and the
Midlands Air Ambulance.
"We had great support from all kinds of businesses, including my
employers Martin-Kaye Solicitors, who kindly donated £100 -
half of which will go to the charity total, and half paid for a
pamper spa day for two at the Albrighton Hall Hotel, which was our
top raffle prize."
Sophie said organisers were also very pleased the event was
hosted by Tim Barnes and Simon Berry, who are radio presenters,
producers and podcasters from Shrewsbury.
"They were a great addition to the night creating a really fun
atmosphere, and they were very professional as they produce radio
for Calon FM and the Brain Spill podcast.
"We'd just like to thank all the teams who gave their time to
take part, and also everyone who donated prizes for our raffle.
"It was great to enjoy a night out with so many friends and
colleagues and to raise so much cash for charity at the same time,"
said Sophie.
Winners of the event were "Where the Fox Hat" - a team from
Barbers (and friends) who each received a goodie bag donated by
Welti Health & Fitness in Shrewsbury.
