PwC has appointed a new Head of Tax in the Midlands.
Stuart Wallace, previously the firm's head of Indirect Taxes in
the region, is taking over from Barry Smith as Head of Tax in the
Midlands, with effect from 1st October 2011.
Stuart will be leading the delivery of tax services to large
corporates in the Midlands, companies based overseas looking to
invest in the region and private companies. He will also lead teams
in specialist tax services related to employment and a range of
direct and indirect taxation.
Commenting on his appointment, Stuart said:
"I am delighted to be stepping up to the role of Head of Tax in
the Midlands. It's a privilege to lead our tax team at a time when
we see some real change coming to the tax regime. The firm has real
strength and depth of specialism in the region and we aim to
capitalise on that by continuing to develop our talent and expand
our team."
With this in mind, as well as Stuart's appointment to lead the
Tax practice, PwC has also appointed two new partners across the
Midlands to strengthen the region's Human Resource Services
practice.
Will Schofield joined the Midlands team on 1st September 2011 as
a partner in the Human Resource Services practice. Will brings a
wealth of international experience having previously worked at the
firm's offices in the Czech Republic, Russia and Australia. He will
be working closely with the existing team to grow the local
practice, with a focus on developing existing, and bringing in new
global mobility clients.
Mo Desai has also rejoined the firm's Midlands-based Human
Resource Services team following a secondment in the South West.
Based at the firm's Donington Court office, he will be leading the
team in the East Midlands, providing specialist human resource
consultancy and taxation services for employers in the area.
Stuart will be succeeded in his role leading Indirect Taxes by
Jonathan Evans who has returned to the Midlands practice after 6
years in PwC's London office.
