Plantscape's planters
Staff at a Derbyshire floral features are enjoying seeing the
fruits of their labour in the limelight after their products
appeared on a new hit TV show.
Workers at Plantscape, based in Hulland, near Ashbourne, have
been glued to Mount Pleasant, a six-part comedy drama screened on
Sky1 and starring Sally Lindsay, Liza Tarbuck and Angela
Griffin.
But while most of the show's half-a-million-strong audience are
watching the action in the foreground, staff have their eyes
trained on the background, ready to spot their own products planted
up with brightly coloured primroses and ivys.
The show, penned by Shameless writer Sarah Hooper, was filmed in
Manchester earlier this year, with some of the outside action
taking place in a street in Chorlton.
In order to make it look the part for TV audiences, the street
was given a makeover by the show's makers, Tiger Aspect
Productions, which rented a series of products from Plantscape,
including 12 hanging baskets and floor-standing multi-tier
planters.
Mark Stone, managing director of Plantscape, said: "The street
in question is called Beech Road, and we were asked to provide our
planters to help it look more colourful and attractive on
screen.
"It's good fun looking out for them, and they certainly look the
part. What's great for us is that although filming is now over, the
hanging baskets are still there, because Tiger Aspect bought them
and donated them to the local traders to say thank you for letting
them film there."
It is not the first time Plantscape's products have hit the
silver screen. Two of its multi-tier planters, positioned outside
HMP Wandsworth Prison in London, once appeared on an episode of
ITV's long-running cop show The Bill.
