A Shropshire plant nursery is offering people the chance to help
a hospice whilst they pick up fantastic bargains and top gardening
tips when it hosts its annual plant sale.
Boningale Nurseries on Holyhead Road, Albrighton, normally
caters only to trade customers, but once a year, stages a massive
end-of-season sale, when it sells off a huge range of shrubs,
perennials and trees to members of the public.
Half of the profits from the sale on Saturday, September 10, are
to be donated to the Mary Stevens Hospice in Stourbridge - which
staff at the nursery chose to support.
The hospice provides specialist palliative care to people in
Dudley, as well as residents from South Staffordshire, Wyre Forest,
Hereford and Worcester and Sandwell.
Frank Sandford, sales director for Boningale, said staff are
gearing up for a busy day after hundreds of people attended last
year's sale.
"This year's event will be even bigger, as we have an even
greater range on offer, including a number of our larger specimens,
such as trees and big shrubs, which would normally only be
available to our commercial customers," he explained.
"As well as the plants, we will have lots of our staff on hand,
including Andi Way, our designer and landscaping expert from
Boningale Garden Creations, who will be able to advise customers on
all gardening issues, from care of their plants to creating
features in your garden.
"Prices are really reasonable - many perennials and shrubs will
be £2.50, and trees and larger stock from £10, so there
will be some fantastic bargains on offer.
"Half of the profits will be donated to the Mary Stevens Hospice
in Stourbridge, which is an added incentive for all of us to make
this a big success and sell as much stock as possible."
Janet Jones, head of fundraising at the hospice, said: "We are
most grateful for the support from Boningale during the last two
years.
"They have raised much needed funds for Mary Stevens Hospice in
a variety of ways, including entering a team in our popular Santa
Jog last Christmas.
"I am sure the plant sale will be a great success and an ideal
opportunity for garden lovers to grab a bargain."
The sale takes place on September 10, from 8.30am until 4pm.
