Orega to take additional space at Colmore Plaza

Flexible office provider Orega will take an additional 7,500 sq ft of office space at the landmark Birmingham office building, Colmore Plaza, following an agreement with owner The Carlyle Group.

Following the outstanding success of Orega's existing business at Colmore Plaza, with 10,000 sq ft of space now fully occupied and the continued demand for space, Orega will take an additional 7,500 sq ft on the mezzanine level of the building. This will provide a further 113 workstations, ranging from a two-person office to a large open-plan space that could accommodate 58 people.

Work on this second phase is under way with completion due towards the end of this month (September). On completion, Orega's business centre at Colmore Plaza will offer a total of 17,500 sq ft, which includes a separate reception area together with meeting rooms on the ground floor.

Reflecting the strong level of interest in this type of space, Orega has already attracted an occupier to the second phase. IT recruitment company Applause IT Limited has signed for eight workstations and will relocate from its existing offices at Moseley Gate on the outskirts of the city.

Caron Salter-Hill, Orega's sales and business centre manager in Birmingham, says: "Applause IT secured the space 'off-plan' which is quite unusual for serviced offices and underlines the appeal of Colmore Plaza business centre to the professional community. It's a great start for our second phase, especially as we also have serious interest in a further significant amount of space."

Mark Harris, director of The Carlyle Group, which owns Colmore Plaza, adds: "Colmore Plaza is one of Birmingham's premier office locations, located right at the heart of the city's business district. These high-quality serviced offices align perfectly with our ethos of providing a truly outstanding and varied offer and I am extremely pleased that Orega has succeeded in securing occupiers for this latest phase of its development so quickly."
