Six personal assistants from Telford-based care providers The
Complete Group have completed the organisation's new first aid
training course.
New recruits Samantha Cook, Joanne Campbell, Suzanne Oaks, Sue
Dytor, Sam Mills and Karolina Gryz completed the Level 2 Award in
Emergency First Aid on 24 August as part of their induction course
with Complete.
The practical course, delivered by trainers Mark Kelsey and
Adrian Pugh, focused on the areas of first aid that personal
assistants are more likely to encounter during their work with
clients with brain injuries, spinal injuries and other disabling
conditions.
It replaces the existing first aid programme as a nationally
recognised qualification, which can also contribute towards broader
qualifications including the new Diploma in Health and Social
Care.
Training Manager Leigh Rogers said: "It was a fantastic day that
was great fun for delegates and trainers alike.
"A great deal of hard work has gone into designing and
accrediting the course and so we are delighted with the feedback
from the candidates.
"The day was a really important milestone for the training
department, which marks the start of many positive changes
throughout the training programme."
The training day was given a massive thumbs-up by participants,
with all six personal assistants rating the course as
"excellent."
Personal Assistant Suzanne Oakes said: "I've been on lots of
first aid course with St John Ambulance, the NHS and other private
providers and this was by far the best."
