Midlands' law firm Challinors has strengthened and reinforced
its position as one of the region's leading Clinical Negligence
teams with the hire of two solicitors to its top ranking team,
headed by Partner Richard Bannister.
The new hires are Erica Wassell, previously in the specialised
Claimant Clinical Negligence department of West Midlands' firm
Higgs & Son, and Sumit Morjaria, who joins from East Midlands
firm Wilson Browne LLP.
Challinors' clinical negligence team also includes Associates
Lucy Adams and Sarah Corser, and Legal Executive Marie Moorhouse,
and has consistently achieved the highest rankings in both the
Chambers & Partners and Legal 500 directories since
2010.
It is recognised nationally as one of the strongest clinical
negligence teams in the West Midlands and has seen its case load
increase over the last twelve months. It has successfully settled
several £multi-million claims for brain injuries resulting
from clinical negligence, and a number of six-figure settlements
involving serious injuries and fatal accidents.
The team is also franchised to handle publicly funded Legal Aid
work.
Team head Richard Bannister, a specialist clinical negligence
lawyer for eighteen years, comments: "We are always on the look out
for fresh new talent and both Erica and Sumit demonstrate a
combination of enthusiasm, passion, legal intellect and resource to
work on what can often be highly demanding cases, that need both
sensitivity and tenacity.
"The team now has an excellent balance of expertise and skills
and the right resource for our growing volume of instructions. We
continue to be focused on providing exemplary legal advice and
support to our clients, whilst maintaining our position and
reputation as a highly expert clinical negligence team."
He adds: "Access to justice in clinical negligence claims is
under threat from the proposed abolition of Legal Aid and the
restriction of 'no win-no fee' agreements. However, Challinors
remains committed to undertaking the work, ensuring that
individuals have access to the best possible legal advice, often at
a time when they need it most."
Challinors has offices in Birmingham, West Bromwich,
Wolverhampton, Halesowen and Nottingham. It has 18 partners and
over 100 fee earners, and is ranked as one of the top legal firms
in the West Midlands. The firm is Number 1 in the Chambers UK
Directory in a number of categories, including Clinical Negligence
and Crime.
