PwC in the Midlands has welcomed just under 100 new graduates to
the firm.
Nationally, the firm has taken on 1,200 individuals - a record
number of graduates after receiving 33,000 applications for all of
its student schemes.
As part of their induction, the graduates will be involved in
welcome activities designed to understand the firm's culture and
provide an overview of its brand values.
A focus of the graduate induction this year is about
sustainability, and the new joiners will take part in over 30
community volunteer projects across the UK in their first week,
experiencing PwC's community programme at first hand. The Midlands'
graduates will be involved in a full day of fundraising in
Birmingham City Centre in aid of the Birmingham Children's
Hospital's Heart Appeal.
Mark Smith, regional chairman at PwC in the Midlands, said:
"The economic uncertainty has altered the way that students
approach finding work and demand for places on our graduate
programme has been exceptional this year.
"As we continue to invest in strengthening our local teams we
are delighted to be welcoming 83 graduates to the firm in the
Midlands. These individuals have an opportunity to develop a long
and successful career representing the next generation of
professional services in the region"
The graduates have joined the firm across its tax, assurance,
consulting, actuarial, legal, consulting and advisory practices.
Nationally this year's intake includes, for the first time, 40
technology jobs. Trainees have joined teams in information security
and system testing, studying towards an IT qualification.
Applications open for 2012 student and graduate vacancies at the
end of this month (September), for at least 1,800 A level,
internship and full time roles across the UK.
