Leading Derby-based property auctioneers Graham Penny Auctions have announced the appointment of Andrew Parker as director.

Andrew is a well known face in the East Midlands property sector and has spent the past five years working in Derby.

In his new role at Graham Penny Auctions he will be working alongside director Graham Penny to further develop the business and increase sales outside of the city of Derby.

This move comes as Graham Penny Auctions recently recorded the best month in the company's five year history, achieving sales in excess of more than £8.5m in June - this included the high profile sale of Alton Manor in Idridgehay, the historic former home of the late Colonel Sir Peter and Lady Winifred Hilton.

Earlier this year, the company reached the top spot in the Essential Information Group's (E I Group) league table for the highest sales for the fifth successive year, achieving property sales in excess of £33.3 million during 2010.

As a result, the company recently announced the expansion and relocation of its auction operation. Graham Penny Auctions has relocated to new premises on the corner of St James' Street and The Strand in Derby, leaving its estates division occupying the entirety of its St James' Street premises.

Commenting on Andrew's appointment, director Graham Penny said:

"I am delighted to welcome Andrew to the team at Graham Penny Auctions. He has an excellent reputation within the property industry and we look forward to working with him to expand our auction division outside of Derby.

"Our continued success, especially in the current climate, is particularly gratifying and reflects our unrivalled market knowledge and marketing expertise," added Graham.

Andrew added:

"I am delighted to be joining the team at Graham Penny Auctions, which has a reputation for excellence throughout the property industry and look forward to expanding the scope of the company's operation."

Graham Penny Auctions acts for both private individuals and institutions selling a wide range of interests, from vacant houses and investment properties to building plots and development sites, commercial properties, land and others.
