East Midlands' law firm, Nelsons is hosting a series of
free-to-attend, breakfast discussion forums for surveyors on
managing tenant arrears as well as the warning signs and what to do
when a tenant becomes insolvent.
The breakfast forums will take place from 8.30am to 10.00am,
firstly at Nelsons' Nottingham office on Stanford Street on Tuesday
20th September, then in Leicester at the firm's New Walk office on
Thursday 22nd September and finally at The Hallmark Hotel in Derby
on Tuesday 27th September.
Director and head of Real Estate at Nelsons, James Coningsby
says: "When the recession bit, it became increasingly important to
carefully manage tenants defaulting on their rents. Whereas
historically landlords could take a hard and bullish approach to
defaulting tenants, the lack of available tenants and the risk of
substantial void periods have resulted in landlords taking a more
commercial and pragmatic approach to rent arrears.
"However, the risk of tenant insolvency is rife, and landlords
must strike a delicate balance between allowing a tenant some
latitude on their arrears, whilst at the same time keeping a
watchful eye on their tenants' solvency."
Through a review of case studies and adopting an open discussion
format, the firm will offer practical, commercial solutions to
managing arrears and maintaining tenants. It will also offer
guidance on avoiding the potential pitfalls of when a tenant goes
into liquidation, and will discuss recent case law relating to
these issues.
Places can be booked via the firm's website at www.nelsonslaw.co.uk
or by contacting Sarah Jamieson on 0800 0241 976 or at
