Derby law firm, Nelsons has received Approved Provider status
from Sight Support Derbyshire, a charity dedicated to improving the
lives of people with sight loss throughout the county.
Nelsons achieved the Approved Provider accreditation following
training of its staff by the charity on how to provide quality
services to people with a visual impairment.
Business manager for SightED, Sight Support Derbyshire's trading
arm, Alan McConville (pictured right) comments: "Sight Support
Derbyshire is very happy to recommend the services of Nelsons to
anyone with a visual impairment. The firm's staff have undergone
our training and demonstrated a commitment to supporting people
with a disability."
Andrew Birchall (pictured left), an associate in the private
client team at Nelsons says: "With 27,000 disabled people in Derby
alone, it is important that firms like Nelsons are committed to
equipping their staff to provide the right level and type of
support for everyone to be able to access advice and services.
"Training by Sight Support Derbyshire was very comprehensive,
consisting of effective communication techniques, different types
of sight loss and how they affect people, and use of safe guiding
techniques to support visually impaired people. We're delighted to
have met the required standards and look forward to working with
the charity to support the 4,000 registered blind and partially
sighted local people who use their services."
