Four directors of Nottingham based firm CPMG Architects have
completed a Management Buy Out (MBO) of the practice.
David Glazebrook, Nick Gregory, Richard Flisher and Sara
Harraway have acquired the business from fellow directors Jack Gant
and Bill Crampin who will now retire.
CPMG based on Warser Gate in Nottingham's historic Lace Market,
employs 56 people and provides quality architecture, interior
designing, space planning and master planning services for clients
across the UK. The firm services a variety of industries including
the education, commercial, industrial, healthcare, residential,
hotels and leisure, transportation and retail sectors.
The firm is at the forefront of innovative design, embracing new
ways of working in response to the changing environment and
financial situation, earning a national reputation, particularly in
the education and transportation sectors.
Innovative schemes that the practice has designed include
Campsmount Technology College in Doncaster, the first new school
building under Michael Gove's new streamlined schools procurement
programme which is currently on site and an office development
recently completed in Leicester for construction company Interserve
which is the first commercial offices in the Midlands designed
around Passiv Haus principles, dramatically reducing its energy
costs.
CPMG has also completed more air traffic control towers than any
other architectural practice in the UK and is currently designing
towers for Birmingham and Manchester Airports.
Amongst the major projects that the firm has been involved in
locally are East Midlands Parkway Station, Bilborough Sixth Form
College, Castle College, Beeston and the Adams Building conversion
in the Lace Market. It is currently designing a new £2.2m
centre in Beeston for WEBS Training.
Managing director David Glazebrook has been with CPMG for 28
years and focuses on the coordination of major projects and of the
practice's ISO 9001 and ISO14001 compliant management systems. Nick
Gregory joined CPMG in 1995 following a successful career as an
architectural designer in London and has a first class portfolio of
highly successful projects to his credit. Richard Flisher has been
with the firm for almost 20 years and specialises in concept and
detail design of major projects. Sara Harraway, a graduate of
Nottingham Trent University, joined the practice in 1994 and has
played a key role in helping the firm expand its education and
interior design portfolio.
The new management team is building on the success of the
company, expanding its portfolio of work into new sectors such as
data centres and energy from waste plants and introducing new and
innovative services for its existing customers.
David Glazebrook said: "This is an exciting opportunity for CPMG
to continue to build the strength of the business. Over the last
twenty years the company has established a strong reputation for
design expertise in a significant number of sectors of the
industry. This broad operating base and the location in Nottingham
will enable CPMG to continue to provide the best service for both
local and national clients. I strongly believe that this will allow
the company to remain competitive and to grow during the current
challenging period in the economy."
Rabby Persaud, director with accountants PKF and Gavin White,
partner of Nottingham legal firm Fraser Brown advised the directors
on the MBO. Hugh Strickland of Geldards provided legal advice to
the retiring directors.
