A Solihull-based manufacturing company has been shortlisted in
the British Engineering Excellence Awards (BEEAS).
Aceon Solar, who are based on the Vulcan House Industrial Estate
in Solihull, are finalists in the 'Mechanical Product of the Year'
category with their innovative Solar Docking Station.
Their product is a portable device that enables the user to
access free electricity on the go and is an ideal solution for
emergency lighting, outdoor use and for emergency relief zones
where access to mains electricity grids can be impossible.
These awards aim to demonstrate and promote the quality of
engineering design within the UK and to showcase the worldwide
engineering excellence we have in this country.
Managing Director of Aceon Solar, Mark Thompson said: "We were
delighted to hear that we had been shortlisted for this prestigious
award and that our product has been recognised. We anxiously await
the finals!"
Graham Pitcher, Group Editor, Findlay Media Engineering Design
Division said: "The entries to this year's Awards have once again
exceeded our expectations in terms of numbers and quality. I look
forward to meeting the finalists at the Awards Luncheon on 13
October 2011."
Aceon Solar are no stranger to awards having been a finalist in
the Barclays Take One Small Step competition earlier this year.
