National law firm, Gateley, has completed its second acquisition this year for Specialist Environmental Support Services Group, Silverdell Plc.  The company has acquired Suffolk-based RDS Asbestos Management Consultants in a deal worth more than £2 million plus working capital, which includes the conditional placing of shares.

The deal, led by Katie Silvester - a corporate partner in Gateley's Birmingham team - follows the acquisition earlier this year of A.H. Allen Ltd.  Silverdell Plc acquired 100 per cent of the share capital of the Hull-based asbestos management consultancy, merging the £1.2 million turnover business into its consulting network, Redhills.

RDS is a well-established consultancy with a blue-chip client base focused on the retail sector, particularly high street retailers, pub chains, restaurants and bookmakers. The acquisition will see key personnel retained to facilitate a smooth integration into Silverdell Plc.

Speaking about Silverdell Plc's latest acquisition, Ian Johnson, Finance Director, said: "Our most recent acquisition is in line with our long-term strategy to expand our service offering by focusing on longer term framework contracts directly for major blue-chip companies. RDS, which operates predominantly in the retail sector, brings complementary skills and geographic coverage to enhance our competitive advantage.

"We knew we could rely on Gateley to advise us on our second important acquisition in recent months and once more they delivered in a quick and responsive manner."

Katie Silvester, corporate partner at Gateley, added: "The industry is underpinned by strong regulatory drivers as companies face ever-more stringent legal requirements to manage hazardous substances such as asbestos. Silverdell Plc is broadening its services in all areas of Specialist Environmental Support Services and we were delighted to be able to work with them again as it strengthens its offering in this important sector."
