Freeserve founder to speak at Duncan & Toplis directors' briefing

One of the founders of 1990s Internet success story Freeserve is to speak at a directors' business briefing in Lincoln next month.

Rob Wilmot will talk to delegates at the Duncan & Toplis Directors' Briefing 2011 about the use of social media and give a first-hand account of dealing with a £1.6bn trade sale. 

The one-day event for all company directors in the region will take place at the Bentley Hotel in North Hykeham on Wednesday 19th October 2011.

Other speakers confirmed for the event include:

• Neil Carberry, Director for Employment Affairs at the CBI 

• Jane Everingham, Managing Director of Mercia Group Ltd 

• Marcus Wright, an economic advisor with Royal Bank of Scotland

• David Lamping, Director of Claims at Cooke & Mason Plc

• Mark Morton, Head of Tax at Mercia Group Ltd and a former Deputy District 

Inspector for HMRC

"Our Directors' Briefing aims to provide company directors with a broad cross-section of topics that have direct relevance to their business," said Peter Townsend, Manager Partner at Duncan & Toplis, who will be chairing the event.

"Its purpose is to allow company directors to recognise the key financial, tax and economic issues affecting their business before they become problems and to ensure opportunities are not missed."

Mr Townsend added that Rob Wilmot's talk would be of particular interest to delegates. "The impact of the Internet and social media is having profound implications for the way business is conducted," he said.

The Duncan & Toplis Directors' Briefing 2011 is aimed at company directors with financial responsibilities and at heads of finance with commercial responsibilities.
