A former Ryder Cup captain helped Solihull residents improve
their golfing swing to mark the launch of a new fast train service
to London.
Bernard Gallacher shared his golfing wisdom with shoppers at
Touchwood Shopping Centre to help 'tee off' the new Mainline train
service from Chiltern Railways.
The train company, recently launched its faster, business
focused service from Birmingham Moor Street and Solihull to London
Marylebone following the completion of a £250m upgrade.
The launch of Mainline has brought the UK's first and second
cities even closer as Chiltern has slashed journey times and
introduced a simplified pricing structure.
Thomas Ableman, director for Chiltern Railways, said: "We were
thrilled with the response from the Touchwood shoppers and
delighted to have such a renowned professional as Bernard to help
'drive' interest."
With use of a golf simulator, Bernard passed on his experience
to shoppers giving them quick tips to improve their game, echoing
the Chiltern Railways improvements and fast new service.
"Passengers have told us they want fast trains, free Wi-Fi and a
simple pricing structure which has led to the development of
Chiltern Mainline to deliver all of these things.
"Trains from Birmingham Moor Street, from 90 minutes, and
Solihull, from 1 hour 22 minutes, mean that we're now the obvious
choice for travel to London. Our on-board features mean that
passengers are now able to use their travel time more effectively;
travelling on Mainline can even be your most productive time,"
concluded Thomas.
