The latest edition of the legal professions' bible, the Legal
500 Directory, regarded as the largest and most in-depth survey of
UK legal firms, has awarded the Crime and Family teams of West
Midlands law firm Challinors, the highest possible rankings, giving
them 'First Tier' status.
The Crime team's head Ghulam Sohail, a Partner at the firm, is
singled out as a 'demonstrable leader in his field' who provides
'realistic advice to clients' and for leading 'a first rate
criminal practice' and a 'professional, well-trained and highly
skilled group'. The 27-strong Business and Serious Crime Department
is also noted for its specialisation in serious fraud and complex
crime.
Receiving first tier ranking for the third consecutive year, the
Family team is recognised for its high level of service which
'exceeds expectations', and the team's head, Partner Fiona
O'Sullivan, is recognised for her 'personable, prompt and
efficient' attributes and her expertise in the pension's aspects of
financial settlements. Challinors' 'strong children's team' which
forms part of the Family department, is also acknowledged.
Challinors' Clinical Negligence team once again receives
recognition within the claimant category for its leading specialist
service, with team head Richard Bannister described as a 'very
pragmatic, direct and sensible' specialist. The team has settled
several multi-million-pound injury claims in the last
12-months.
And the Personal Injury team, is ranked as a third tier firm in
this specialist area, with team head Andrew Bowen marked-out as
'conscientious, with good judgement and attention to detail',
focussing on employer's and public liability, and high value road
traffic accident claims.
Challinors' work for the Treasury Solicitor's panel by its
Commercial Litigation team in Birmingham, headed by Peter Lowe, is
once again recognised by Legal 500, as well as the team's
increasing level of activity in fraud disputes.
The firm's Corporate and Commercial team is also recognised for
its continuing work advising Natural England on various matters,
and its 'considerable experience' on logistics matters.
