It may be too late for most of us to take up a spot on the
Olympic cycle track, but the 2011 Cycle Show will give everyone the
chance to feel like an athlete with the opportunity to test the new
2012 ranges from some of the biggest names in cycling.
The Cycle Show is now in its tenth year and 2011 will see the
show move to Birmingham's NEC, its largest ever venue, to
accommodate the UK's growing interest in cycling.
Not only does the move to the Midlands provide more space for an
action packed Cycle Show, it also makes the show more accessible to
people from all around the UK.
With more outside space than ever before this year, Cycle Show
organisers have joined forces with Birmingham's NEC to build and
jointly fund a 1km outdoor mountain bike demo track. A first for
the Cycle Show, it will offer a unique opportunity to test out the
latest 2012 mountain bike ranges on a permanent track. The show
will be open to the public between 30 September and 2 October this
year, but the track will be staying for good, giving bike fanatics
the opportunity to ride it regularly.
Cycle Show 2011 will also see the introduction of a 600m road
demo track, perfect for commuters and road bikers wanting to test
out the latest bikes.
Andrew Brabazon, Cycle Show Event Director said: "Birmingham is
the perfect place for the show. We now have the outside space we've
always needed to run both a proper road demo track on tarmac, and
build a new 1km off-road demo track.
"We've freed up significant additional exhibition and feature
space making the show better than ever before."
With a booming industry reported to be worth £3 billion
annually in Britain, coupled with the success of British riders,
cycling is more popular in Britain than ever before.
The show is expected to welcome 30,000 visitors from around the
country between 30 September and 2 October as hundreds of the
world's top cycling brands showcase their products.
Chris Hartley, Business Development Director at the NEC said:
"We are delighted that the prestigious Cycle Show has chosen to
move to the NEC, particularly as this year marks its 10th
anniversary.
"The show continues to grow year-upon-year and we're happy that
the NEC provides the space and facilities needed to satisfy the
show's ever-increasing visitor numbers.
"The show's move to our venue also sees further collaboration
between Upper Street Events and the NEC with the introduction of a
purpose-built permanent outdoor track, which will be situated
within our woodland area and will be available for bike demo days
and corporate events throughout the year.
"This is a great example of how exhibitors can enjoy flexibility
within our 611-acre site; not just within our 20 interlinking halls
but across the site as a whole. We're very much looking forward to
welcoming the Cycle Show's UK-wide visitors next month."
The Cycle Show 2011 is open to the public between Friday 30
September and Sunday 2 October at its new home at the NEC in
Birmingham.
