The Midlands office of Lockton, the global insurance broker, is
gearing up for a major expansion programme following the
appointment of Debbie Day, the firm's new managing partner.
Mrs Day's move to Lockton from rivals Marsh, where she spent 11
years working in London and the Midlands, is a major coup for the
privately owned, multi-national broking firm, which has offices
throughout the US, Latin America, Asia, The Middle East and
Europe.
After starting her career as a trainee account handler at C E
Heath in Birmingham, Debbie quickly rose through the ranks to
become a broker and then senior client executive with the firm.
Before joining Lockton's Midlands' office in Cherry Street,
Birmingham she was UK leader of the multinational practice at
Marsh, having previously held a variety of client service and
senior management positions including regional executive of the
central region and head of office for the Leicester operation.
Debbie succeeds Garry Moseley, who has successfully led the
business over the past two years. In the role of managing partner
at Lockton, Debbie will build on the outstanding results achieved
by Garry and the team and will be responsible for attracting and
retaining new clients. She has plans to almost double fee
revenues and grow the number of staff from around 40 - 60 over the
next three years.
Plans for the Lockton business also include moving to new
offices in 2012 and strengthening the existing team with the
appointment of two or three new partners to work alongside Garry
Moseley, who remains in the business and sits on the partner
board.
Commenting on her appointment, Debbie said: "We have a focused,
sector driven expansion plan which will target mid to high end
corporate businesses including FTSE 250 organisations and large
private companies.
"The insurance broking market is very competitive, but by being
innovative and having an in-depth understanding of our clients'
business first, we can offer bespoke insurance and risk management
solutions to help them control and diminish risks."
As well as a comprehensive range of insurance broking solutions,
including general liability, employer's liability and property,
Lockton has a specialist risk management team and a range of
bespoke claims management and analytical services.
"Before accepting the post I met with the chairman David Lockton
in the States and was very impressed by the fact that I would be
joining a client focused organisation which was quick on its feet
and entrepreneurial in its thinking. Birmingham is the second
biggest office in the UK and there is a tremendous opportunity to
develop the business further," added Debbie Day.
Chris Brown, head of Lockton's UK regional operations, said:
"Debbie has worked in the insurance broking industry for over
22 years during which time she has developed an outstanding
reputation both in the sector and amongst clients. Her experience
will be invaluable to us as we look to grow our market share and
operations in the Midlands. "
