Expanding independent contract caterer and support services provider Aspens Services - based in Worcester - is celebrating winning nine new school and Academy catering contracts totalling £9 million in revenue over the next five years.

The new contracts mean the growing business will serve an extra 1.9 million meals annually from September 2011. The company's new clients include St Chad's Catholic and Church of England School, Runcorn, Cheshire; Chesterton Community College, Cambridge,  and Wolgarston High School in Penkridge, Staffordshire.

Aspens has also been chosen for a multimillion pound contract to deliver catering, hospitality and vending services at Grace Academy Coventry, Grace Academy Solihull and Grace Academy Darlaston.

The nine contract gains will see Aspens deliver a range of catering and hospitality services for 10,000 new customers.

"We are thrilled to have been chosen to operate these nine new contracts and will be working closely with students and staff focusing on the delivery of tailored, cost-effective foodservices which cater to their local needs and provide them with great-tasting food," says Aspens managing partner John  Roe.  "This marks a significant stage in the continuing growth of our business, founded three years ago. We now provide catering services at 35 locations in England and Wales.  I believe our success is built on our team's expertise and commitment to working with individual clients to ensure that we fully understand their requirements and give them a service that delivers exactly what they want.  In line with this local focus, we have a strong commitment to sustainability and the use of fresh high-quality produce from local suppliers."

Aspens sources all perishable supplies from farmers and producers within a 25-mile radius of its catering locations, reducing food miles and boosting local economies. Menus incorporate organic and Fairtrade produce as standard.

Aspens is one of a handful of caterers to have received the Soil Association's Food for Life Gold Catering Mark for its menus, recognising the use of local, seasonal produce as well as organic and Fairtrade items and sustainably-sourced fish. Aspens also holds the British Standard ISO 14001 for its environmental management systems.
