Willmott Dixon has lent a helping hand to refurbish a popular
local sports club for the benefit of hundreds of city youngsters
who rely on the facility.
A team of volunteers from Willmott Dixon's Birmingham north
branch completed the essential refurbishment project at Four Oaks
Boys' Club in Sutton Coldfield.
The team, which included a carpenter, plumber, electrician and a
painter and decorator, completed modernisation work including
installing a new kitchen sink, water heater and taps, a fire exit
crash bar and the painting of the gym doors.
Four Oaks Boys' Club was established in 1961 and now has more
than 300 members ranging from 8 to 18 years of age. It welcomes
children of both sexes and their families. Although created as a
football club, Four Oaks has developed over the years to provide
lots of other activities that attract and involve local youngsters,
with consequent community benefits.
Shyeene Zaidi-Bere, the Customer & Community Officer for
Willmott Dixon says, "We were approached by Birmingham City Council
to support the club and were more than happy to oblige. The club is
at the heart of the community, and offers children and teenagers
the opportunities to get involved in activities they would
otherwise miss out on.
We were able to make a significant difference to the running and
appearance of the club, and for that we are very proud."
Willmott Dixon's local supplier Travis Perkins kindly donated
the materials free of charge and even included a new undersink
water heater to replace the existing model which was no longer
working.
Keith Skinner from Four Oaks, said, "Completing the
refurbishment at the club had to be done quickly, so it's been a
bit like a '60 minute make over' to get everything done. But
everyone has been great. The team of volunteers pulled together and
done an excellent job. The work that Willmott Dixon have completed
will make so much of a difference to our club and all our members,
and for that we are very grateful."
