A new interactive swimming school which provides children with
the skills and confidence needed to progress in their early years
will open in Stourbridge next month.
From Sunday 11th September, Midlands-based Baba Seahorse will
launch their unique swimming lessons for children aged three months
to seven years at the new £186,000 indoor pool at Norton's
Gig Mill Primary School.
The inspiration of co-owners David Salt and Lulu Taylor-West,
Baba Seahorse is a different type of swimming school. Based around
confidence-building games, practical demonstrations and original
songs, the popular swim school is now expanding in its seventh year
across the West Midlands.
David Salt, swimming instructor and co-owner of Baba Seahorse
said: "Baba Seahorse is growing and we can't wait to start working
with children and their parents in Stourbridge. We see the new
state-of-the-art facility at Gig Mill Primary School as an ideal
place to introduce Baba Seahorse to the town.
"Our swim school is all about giving children confidence in the
water and through fun and interaction we have achieved some
fantastic results - none more so than when earlier this year a two
year-old girl swam an unaided nine-metre width. That was a special
moment.
"We do things with a twist and find that our entertaining,
interactive approach is something parents have been looking for.
Our lessons are delivered in a way that children understand and
enjoy and through singing, role-play and a variety of games we have
gradually built a trusted reputation."
David added: "The safety message is a cornerstone of our lessons
and our fully qualified team are all CRB-checked. We cater for
children of all abilities and closely follow the STA's
International Learn to Swim programme."
Parents whose children have attended Baba Seahorse swim schools
in other parts of the region have tipped the all new Stourbridge
venture for success.
Proud dad Roger Morris from Stourport-on-Severn praised the swim
school. He commented: "My daughter Caitlin amazingly managed to
swim an unaided nine-
metre width when she was only two years old. That's obviously
down to her natural ability but it's also due to the confidence
Baba Seahorse has given her."
Meanwhile Halesowen mum Kristy Oliver, who has now qualified as
an instructor and who will be assisting at the Gig Mill classes,
added: "My sons Archie and Elliot have both attended and thoroughly
enjoyed the classes from an early age - so much so that I jumped at
the opportunity to help teach at the new venue."
