Staffordshire Auction House expands its horizons

Progressive Staffordshire auctioneers and valuers, Cuttlestones, is expanding its horizons with the addition of a second sale room. The firm has taken on premises in Wolverhampton which, in addition to its existing Penkridge sale room off Pinfold Lane, will host a further series of sales and valuation events throughout the year.

The move is a natural one for the company which has seen significant growth since MD and Head Auctioneer, Ben Gamble, took the helm and re-launched it under the Cuttlestones standard in 2007. Ben says:

"The last four years have been a real ride - we've expanded massively and taken what was a sale room with a reputation for being focused on agricultural and general household goods to a respected Fine Art and Antiques auction house that's attracting vendors and bidders on a global scale. It's been hard work but fun and it's down to a combination of a great team, significant investment in online technology and extensive PR and marketing - not to mention a good helping of old-fashioned hard work.

"We're now at the stage where the Penkridge sale room has become a well-known, thriving venue for a range of sales, but we need further room to grow. The chance to take on the Wolverhampton Auction Room presents the perfect opportunity for us to expand further into the West Midlands and extend our calendar of sales. There's a lot of work to do between now and launch, but we're progressing quickly and the whole team is genuinely excited at the prospects this expansion offers."

Cuttlestones' new premises are located on Clarence Street, close to Wolverhampton city centre, and will be returning to their original use following a number of years as a charity day centre and, subsequently unoccupied. The Cuttlestones team is already hard at work restoring the venue with the aim of opening its doors to the public on Monday, 5th September. The first auction to take place at the new Wolverhampton Auction Room will be an Antique and Home Sale on Wednesday 21st September; these sales will then take place monthly on a Wednesday (please check website for further dates), and Wolverhampton will also play host to Cuttlestones' increasingly popular Specialist Collectors' Sales; the next of which is planned for Friday, 4th November.
