Poundland, Europe's biggest single price discount retailer, will
open a new 6,000 sq ft store at St Andrew's Shopping Park in
Birmingham on Thursday 11 August, and will host a fun day for
shoppers two days later on Saturday 13 August.
Launched over ten years ago, Poundland remains true to its
original vision of offering a wide range of top brands and daily
essential items, all priced at £1. Today, millions of
savvy shoppers are attracted by the retailer's inflation busting
price point and diverse product range, over half of which is
sourced from the UK.
Situated in the heart of Birmingham, St Andrew's Shopping Park
is approximately one minute from Bordesley Circus on the Ring Road
(A4540) and just to the east of the City centre by St Andrew's
Football Stadium, home to Birmingham City's 'Blues'.
The park was re-launched in June this year (2011) with the
opening of a new 10,000 sq ft Outfit store, which combines five
High Street brands under one roof, including Miss Selfridge,
Dorothy Perkins, Wallis, Evans and Burton.
Formerly the location of a Big W superstore, the new shopping
park is next to an existing 74,000 sq ft Morrisons supermarket and
benefits from 735 on-site customer parking spaces. In
addition to Outfit, Peacocks, Poundland and Boots have
already opened new stores at the park, and will be followed by JD
Sports and Toys R Us later this summer.
Speaking about the new store, Poundland's Trading Director,
David Coxon, says: "Poundland has grown significantly over the past
12 months and it's fantastic to see this expansion continuing with
a new store in St Andrew's Shopping Park. We're looking forward to
opening our doors!"
James Whitehill, Senior Fund Manager for St Andrew's asset
manager, Legal & General Property, concluded: "Since the launch
of Outfit last month, St Andrew's has continued to go from strength
to strength and, with today's announcement, is now almost fully
let. The diverse shopping offer, ranging from fashion and
sports to health and beauty, combined with Morrisons long
established and successful store sharing the site, will enable St
Andrew's to quickly cement its standing as a new retail destination
for Birmingham, attracting both local shoppers and those further
afield."
