A leading Midlands commercial lawyer has been invited to sit on
the panel of two prestigious business awards.
Kate Legg, a solicitor at award-winning legal firm Higgs &
Sons, was invited by the bfa (British Franchise Association) to
judge June's HSBC Franchisor of the Year Awards and will also sit
on the panel judging the forthcoming HSBC Franchisee of the Year
Awards.
The awards highlight the outstanding business acumen, passion
and achievement of franchise businesses across the UK. The awards
put standards, ethics and best practice at the top of their
agenda.
Higgs is one of only a small number of firms accredited by the
bfa and Kate, an experienced franchise lawyer, joined Sir Bernard
Ingram, President of the bfa and Catherine Hayes, head of franchise
at HSBC to judge the awards.
Speaking of her time as a judge on the awards, Kate said: "I
thoroughly enjoyed the two days and I was enormously impressed by
the standard of entries.
"One aspect that particularly stood out was the number of
finalists who are leaders in their respective industries, in many
cases, to the extent that they are shaping government and
regulatory policy. They have become the 'go to' organisations
for best practice in their fields. This is clear evidence not
only that franchising works, but also of the significant role that
franchising has to play in the British economy."
