The Member of Parliament for North West Leicestershire, Andrew
Bridgen, paid a recent visit to Zeeko, Coalville, a manufacturer of
very high precision polishing and measuring machines. The company
was one of this year's winners in the Innovation category of the
Queen's Awards for Enterprise.
Mr Bridgen said: "It is a pleasure to visit a business that has
earned one of the UK's most prestigious awards. It is continuing to
innovate and remains at the leading edge of its business. I wish
Zeeko all the best for the future."
The MP has nominated the company for Parliament's Associate All
Party Manufacturing Group Made by Britain initiative. He has named
the company's product as the best example of manufacturing in his
constituency.
Zeeko specialises in the manufacture of polishing machines that
are used to make high precision optics, orthopaedic joints,
semiconductor products and precision moulds. The company's winning
entry at the Queen Awards was its Optic Fabrication Centre, a
corrective polisher with integrated measuring capability. Based on
Vulcan Way, Coalville, Zeeko has just celebrated its tenth
anniversary.
Mr Bridgen concluded, "Zeeko has progressed from being a
start-up company with innovative technology for polishing
ultra-precision surfaces for telescope mirrors and other optical
surfaces, to become a market leading company with a wide polishing
and metrology product portfolio that competes impressively in a
global market place.
"The company is an innovative, young and dynamic
technology-based business with globally protected intellectual
property extending to over 52 worldwide patents."
