Smith & Brooks, one of the world's leading licensing
companies specializing in
children's fashion clothing is celebrating its 25th anniversary.
The wholly
owned subsidiary of Brands Holdings (the licensing / wholesale
division of
retail giant SportsDirect.com) is a UK-based company that has
firmly
established its position as one of the top licensing
companies.
Formed in 1986, the company was established as a branded
apparel
company but following changes within the apparel industry, the
business has
evolved over the years to become 100% licensed childrens'
clothing. Smith &
Brooks has developed and maintained relationships with licensing
giants such
as Disney, DreamWorks, Hasbro, Mattel and SEGA whilst managing
the
licensing for a number of top brands including Disney Princess,
DC Comics,
Nintendo and Thomas the Tank Engine, to name just a few.
Over 95% of the company's business is with UK retailers,
supplying most of
the UK High Street including George @ ASDA, BHS, Debenhams, Next
and
Tesco. In the financial year 2010/11 sales exceeded 4.6 million
units.
Mark Segalov, Managing Director says, "Smith & Brooks is an
excellent
example of Darwin's Theory of Evolution…….. after
25 years in the branded
clothing industry commencing in menswear then moving into
childrenswear,
and ultimately spending 13 years in licensed children's fashion
clothing, we
have delivered over 120 million licensed/branded garments. Smith
& Brooks is
still constantly evolving, looking to achieve its goal of
satisfying the children's
aspirations, yet still delivering affordable fashion with
parental consent."
The company's dedication to evolution is underlined by the
recent launch of
Smith & Brooks footwear division.
