Employees from the Kraft Foods site in Bournville have spent the
day volunteering at Cramar Cat Rescue and Sanctuary in Hopwood,
Birmingham, helping the staff to prepare for its annual open day on
Sunday, 21st August.
Nine volunteers from the chocolate manufacturing site in
Bournville, along with members of their families, spent the day
painting the outside of buildings and weeding the garden area.
Lisa Dick, a designer from Kraft Foods who helped to organise
the day, said: "This is the third year that we have volunteered at
the sanctuary and there is always a fantastic atmosphere. Everyone
at Kraft Foods is passionate about volunteering and it was great
that we were able to bring our families along to enjoy the day and
provide essential maintenance work to the buildings, allowing staff
to concentrate on continuing to care for the cats."
The sanctuary provides relief to suffering, stray or abandoned
cats throughout the West Midlands.
Carole Lowe, Chair Trustee at Cramar Cat Rescue and Sanctuary,
said: "At the moment we have over 40 kittens and over 40 cats that
need re-homing. We rely on the volunteering efforts from
organisations such as Kraft Foods to provide maintenance work to
the buildings so that all our income and resources can be directed
at rescuing, rehabilitating and ultimately finding the cats new
homes.
"The work carried out by the employees at Kraft Foods has helped
us to get ready for our annual open day, which we're all really
looking forward to."
