The Institute of Directors (IoD) Lincolnshire branch continues
its seminar series with a briefing on managing risks to business,
at an early evening event on Wednesday 14 September.
It will be addressed by two key speakers: Bill Murphy, Managing
Director of Next Generation Access BT Group and Detective Sergeant
Ian Jarman, Head of Economic Crime at Lincolnshire Police. The
event will be held at the Bentley Hotel, Lincoln.
Annette Wood, Chair of IoD Lincolnshire, says the seminar will
focus on the new challenges (and benefits) to businesses from
increased and improved technology. She commented:" Lincolnshire has
poor broadband connectivity and poor speed , particularly in
rural areas where many businesses are based. The county could be
regarded as particularly susceptible in terms of risks to business
due to the lack of resilience and security of websites and
connections."
Bill Murphy is responsible with BT for driving the commercial
roll-out and adoption of high-speed broadband technologies across
the UK. As part of his speech he will be looking at the superfast
broadband debate, government ambitions and BT's role in this.
Ian Jarman, as Head of the Economic Crime Unit and with personal
experience of the business community, will draw on his expertise to
highlight current dangers and risks to companies and present some
useful ideas to consider putting in place.
The event runs from 5-7pm and offers networking and
opportunities to put questions to the speakers. Bookings can be
made via www.iod.com/eastmidlands or by calling the IoD's East
Midlands office on 0115 848 6190.
