As Midland Heart celebrates its most successful year ever, Chief
Executive Officer Tom Murtha has announced that he is to stand down
in early summer 2012.
Tom Murtha has been Chief Executive Officer of Midland Heart and
its main legacy operations, Keynote and Midland Area, since 1996.
He was instrumental in establishing one of the top ten
organisations in the country after the creation of Midland Heart in
2006 and has an outstanding career history within the housing
industry which spans over 36 years.
Speaking about his decision Mr Murtha said: "I have thoroughly
enjoyed the privilege of leading Midland Heart and being part of a
team which has delivered such exceptional results in the last few
years. Now it is time for me to have a change in focus."
The search for his successor has begun and Mr Murtha will remain
until 2012 to ensure a smooth transition of leadership.
Mr Murtha is well regarded for his strong values and passion for
leading organisations that cater for the most vulnerable in society
and is nationally recognised for his expertise in housing, care,
regeneration, diversity and mergers.
Mr Murtha spoke of his pride in being central to the creation of
Midland Heart, customer service excellence awards, AA2 credit
rating and which has recently received the largest HCA funding
allocation in its history: "We have accomplished many things at
Midland Heart and I am proud of the part I played. We have
established stability and high levels of service for customers and
our staff have been innovative and flexible, all of which has
allowed us to flourish and grow.
"I am overwhelmingly proud of my board, the leadership team and
1550 staff who have ensured that the current time of immense
challenge has been hugely successful for Midland Heart.
"I feel that I have completed one part of a very exciting story
for Midland Heart; we are now recognised as one of the main housing
and care providers, actively involved in the housing debate with a
strong team who will maintain and constantly press for ever higher
standards. For Midland Heart it is time to move the emphasis
to achieve even more and for me it is time to find a new
challenge".
Lord Bill Morris, Chair of Midland Heart added: "We will be very
sorry to see Tom leave us, he has achieved a great deal and has
inspired the team to aim high and deliver. I know that he is
leaving at a time when we have never been in better shape with
exciting developments secured and many other plans in store. This
makes it an exceptional and exciting challenge for his
successor.
