Domsetic & General is helping the residents of Nottingham to
beat the downturn, and has made 150 temporary employees permanent
in the last six months.
Since its last recruitment drive in December 2010, the
Nottingham call centre has been able to offer over 150 permanent
contracts and 200 contract extensions to its temporary and fixed
term workers. The company is now looking to take on even more staff
during the summer months.
Tracy Burrell, HR manager at Domestic & General, said: "We
regularly recruit large numbers of employees to help us during our
busiest periods. We initially look to appoint people on fixed term
contracts or on a temporary basis, but we are delighted to say,
that since our last recruitment drive, we have been able to offer
150 permanent positions.
"This is excellent news for not only us as a company, but for
the wider community. We were really impressed with the calibre of
people who we took on during the later part of last year and this
is reflected in the number of people we have since offered long
term roles to. As a company we tend to offer more than the average
call centre, and people can really go on to have long and
successful careers with us with the potential to undertake training
and really move up the ranks within the company."
Domestic & General is well known for its reputation as a
good employer. The Nottingham office offer full training for its
employees and has won awards for its age positive recruitment
practices. There are currently over 800 employees at the centre
ranging in age between 16 and 74.
"We pride ourselves on the quality of our employees, high
employee retention levels and the benefits available. We also hope
that as one of the major employers in the city, we are helping the
local economy to get back on its feet again by giving people who
may have lost their jobs during the recession, that vital lift back
into employment."
Tracy added: "We're delighted with the number of fixed term
contracts we've been able to offer our employees and hope we'll be
able to do the same with the next intake during the summer."
