Domestic & General employees kick started their day with
delicious healthy breakfasts and a little competition to get them
moving.
Nutritious breakfast samples such as fresh fruit salad,
smoothies, cereals and ideas for an alternative to the traditional
fry-up - a "grill up" - were available for employees to try.
Pedometers were also handed out, with a prize for the person who
took the highest number of steps during the day.
Tracy Burrell, HR manager, said: "We all hear about the benefits
of a healthy diet and more exercise and a little effort goes a long
way. We think it's really important that we take an interest in our
employees' wellbeing and encourage them to take the healthy
option."
Audu Alfa, won the pedometer challenge. He said: "I'm thrilled
to win the challenge. It's easy to make excuses when you're in an
office but it wasn't too difficult to take those extra steps. We
all really enjoy the Wellness Wednesday initiatives and hope they
continue. It's rare you see your workplace supporting and
encouraging you to stay fit and healthy."
Tracy added: "We're delighted with the success of the Wellness
Wednesday initiative over the few last years. Our employees are all
extremely enthusiastic, and from the Wii fit activities to the
exercise bike challenge, we've seen some great efforts. We hope the
enthusiasm continues."
