A Stafford opticians is celebrating after a member of staff who
began her career with them as a receptionist has now qualified as a
dispensing optician.
Anne Shrimpton has successfully completed her degree to become a
fully qualified dispensing optician for Mincher-Lockett Opticians,
having originally joined the business as a receptionist ..... years
ago.
The 35-year-old, who is a also a keen kick-boxer, and was
awarded her first degree black belt earlier this year, studied for
her qualification whilst working full-time at the Stafford Street
practice, and will now divide her time between there and Mincher
Lockett's newly-acquired practice in Station Road, Gnosall.
Optician Jan Goodwin, who co-owns the business, said she was
delighted at Anne's achievement.
"She has worked terrifically hard to achieve this, and
considering she is working full-time, and also very committed to
her kick-boxing, shows how dedicated she is - we are very
proud of her," said Mrs Goodwin.
"It is great timing for our business, as we have recently
expanded, and having someone with Anne's experience and
qualifications is a huge asset to us."
Anne, who lives in Cannock said: "I started with Mincher Locket
as a receptionist, and really, have been studying pretty solidly
for various qualifications since then, with the encouragement of
Sarah and Jan, who run the business.
"I have been doing a distance learning degree for the last three
years, and am thrilled to have now qualified. But my studying won't
stop there, as I hope to go on and qualify as a contact lens
optician now."
