City centre based Click Travel has revealed how a heavy
reinvestment strategy into new markets and products has led to a
bumper year of success for the business.
The travel management company posted an annual turnover of
nearly £19m, a boost of just under £9m on the previous
year, helping them to make the official list of the industry's top
50 UK players for the third year running.
Simon McLean, entrepreneur and managing director of Click
Travel, said: "We've always believed in reinvesting profit into the
company, but this year in particular the move has really paid
off.
"Our success has allowed us to create 16 new jobs at our
Birmingham city centre headquarters so far this year, including the
recruitment of a bid manager, taking our total staff number to 50 -
a 150% increase since 2008."
Click Travel recently launched takethetrain.co.uk, an online
rail ticket website based on its Openrail platform which was
developed by the company's in house software team and took two
years to create.
"We invested a six figure sum back into developing our new rail
technology" continued McLean, "something that has given us a unique
edge in our day to day business as well as creating a whole new
opportunity for us to enter the consumer rail ticketing market with
takethetrain.co.uk.
"We're keen to keep funneling revenue into the business as it
allows us to keep to our ethos of innovation" added
McLean.
"At the same time, we can keep creating new jobs, products and
services that keep our clients ahead of the rest of the industry,
and our company amongst the most respected for technology and
software development.
"We've added some real industry heavyweights to our team this
year and we're hoping to keep growing our Birmingham team as 2011
progresses."
