Chao baby to open at Spiceal Street

Bullring has announced that the third restaurant to join Spiceal Street is Thai-banquet style restaurant, Chao Baby.

The restaurant, which will take unit 2 at Spiceal Street, is owned by the Chaophraya restaurant group and will be the first of the group's restaurants to open in the Midlands. Offering a range of classic Thai dishes and a selection of cocktails and Thai beers, the restaurant completes the Spiceal Street line-up.

The 4,250sq ft unit Chao Baby is set across two levels offering outdoor seating on both tiers and great views of the St Martin's Church and Selfridges architecture. Diners can watch live food theatre as the restaurant will boast an open kitchen, whilst also offering a signature large salt water jellyfish tank.

Tim Walley, General Manager at Bullring, commented: "We're delighted to welcome Chao Baby to Bullring and are thrilled that the Spiceal Street mix is now complete. Chao Baby brings a different element to the scheme and the city as it'll be the first establishment in the brand's portfolio to open in the Midlands. Having listened to the feedback we've received from our customers during the Spiceal Street process we're confident that we've got the right mix and look forward to the opening of the new dining destination during winter 2011."

Louise Hitch, Group Marketing and Sales Manager for Chaophraya Restaurant Group, added: "As every river has its own pattern and personality so each of our restaurants has its own characters and style. Nethertheless, each one carries with it our unique core values of freshness, focus, flare, fun and family. Launching the restaurant on Spiceal Street in the Bullring marks the start of a very exciting new journey for us"

Building work is now in its fifth month as 20,000sq ft of space in the St Martin's Square area is transformed into a new dining quarter. Three new restaurant units will join the existing five restaurants in the area with the addition of a new water feature, green wall and piece of public art. The Nandos and Pizza Hut units are also being extended as part of the scheme. Following the opening of the development during winter 2011 a full schedule of cultural events will be unveiled creating the ultimate dining and entertainment hub.

The date of opening is expected to be announced later in the year but Bullring is giving visitors the chance to win a table at one of the restaurants on opening day, meaning that they will be one of the first to experience Spiceal Street.
