PKF Accountants & business advisers is seeking a buyer for
one of the region's most distinctive pubs - Derbyshire's historic
Bear Inn - after the business entered into administration in June
2011.
Situated in the beautiful Derbyshire Dales, The Bear Inn
consists of a bar, restaurant and hotel with twelve rooms, plus two
small holiday cottages. The venue is also capable of catering for
weddings and other events, for up to 80 covers. Turnover is
approximately £850k pa. The fame of The Bear Inn has spread
across both counties and continents in recent years, as a gastro
pub of note as well as an outstanding hotel, carvery and real ale
venue.
Since at least the 17th century, the alehouse that would become
famous as The Bear Inn has provided good beer, hearty food and
comfortable lodging to travellers from across the land. Just to
stand beneath the beams of this fine English country inn invites
history to wash over you - and today it can still boast to be one
of Derbyshire's oldest and most renowned hotels.
Administrators, PKF (UK) LLP, continue to trade the business as
normal while seeking a buyer for this unique and quirky
establishment. Brian Hamblin, a partner at PKF, said: "A
successful sale could save up to 20 jobs, as well as preserving a
real piece of English history".
