Solihull-based Amillan has been appointed to install IPTV and
data networking systems at the new Edgbaston Stadium following
Amillan's first successful project at Warwickshire County Cricket
Club, installing the communications infrastructure facilities at
the venue.
Communications systems integrator Amillan will begin the
installation of the IPTV systems in July to have the stadium
up-and-running for the test match against India in August.
This second phase is part of a venue-wide refurbishment
programme. Accessed via a new main entrance, the venue will seat
8250 spectators and include media and press rooms, a members' area,
catering services and a museum.
Phil Macdonald, Warwickshire County Cricket Club project
director, said: "We have re-built over a third of the facilities at
Edgbaston in 2011 and feel that these changes are essential to the
operation of any world-class stadium and central to the successful
delivery of events. In today's media age, we need to provide the
world's press with easy access to internet and network
communications systems, and deliver the latest multimedia
experience to our corporate guests and fans, and Amillan's data
networking and IPTV solutions mean that we are able to do
this."
Macdonald continued: "Amillan clearly demonstrated its
experience in the precise co-ordination and management of the
communications infrastructure installation project, and this was a
key contributing factor in Amillan being selected for the
additional contracts. We knew Amillan would deliver."
Richard Reid, strategic development director at Amillan,
said: "Amillan is proud to have been selected to undertake these
additional contracts at a prestigious project in our home city,
particularly after being selected on the reputation of our previous
work with the Club.
"Amillan is well-experienced when it comes to sports
venues, thanks to our long-standing relationship with Wimbledon's
tennis complex. Edgbaston now adds to our sport portfolio. We
recognise the dependence upon an efficient and reliable
communications infrastructure, and are able to apply this
experience to develop a robust and cost effective solution for
Edgbaston."
