Work is underway on new headquarters for Mansfield based
electrical contractors and mechanical engineers Kent PHK to create
additional space and improved accommodation for their expanding
business, securing current jobs as well as creating new
ones.
The £2.5m facility, that has been designed by Nottingham
firm Williams Architects and is being built by Mansfield based
Herbert Baggaley Construction, comprises of new head office and a
workshop.
The two story office building is designed around a central
circulation core with the two floors connected by a series of voids
to provide high levels of natural daylight and ventilation. The
building's façade comprises a series of full height windows
set into cedar cladding. The windows have manually operated opening
vents as well as solar shading.
The adjoining 1,000sq m workshop will be used for the company's
fabrication activities and has been designed to complement the
appearance of the offices. Both buildings are at different
heights due to sloping ground and are tied together visually by
large overhanging eaves.
"Having set our roots here in Mansfield in the early 1990's we
have a long standing relationship with the town and are pleased to
have found a location for our new head office which we believe
meets all our future requirements," said Ian Kent, Director of Kent
PHK Ltd. "We are proud to award the project to local companies and
look forward to relocating in early 2012."
"We are delighted to be delivering prestigious new offices and
workshop facilities in Mansfield for Kent PHK, a thriving local
company," said Clive Williams of Williams Architects. "We have
worked with Kent PHK from initial concepts right through to
detailed design, and we are now focusing on the successful
construction of the development with Baggaley Construction. We look
forward to seeing Kent PHK move in to their new headquarters in the
New Year and wish them every success in their new location."
"We are extremely pleased to be working on this local project
and helping a fellow Mansfield company with its planned expansion,"
said Ian Baggaley, managing director of Herbert Baggaley
Construction.
The initial construction project is due to complete October
2011.
