Derbyshire firm Wildgoose Construction has completed a medical
centre that will serve 6,000 patients.
The £2.35m centre was built on behalf of primary care
property specialists Primary Horizons, based at Pride Park in
Derby.
The 800-metre square, two-storey building is behind the Glebe
Field Centre in Crich and will benefit 6,000 patients from Crich
and the surrounding villages.
In addition to five GPs and a wide range of primary care
services, the centre will include space for podiatry and district
nursing services, provided by Derbyshire Community Health Services.
There will also be an on-site pharmacy.
The build was not without its challenges as it involved building
into a steep hill because of the lack of available suitable
sites.
The works also involved the formation of new access to the site,
through an existing allotment at the side of the Glebe Field Centre
and the installation of a new footpath alongside Oakwell Drive,
including the relocation of the existing retaining wall that forms
the boundary of the vicarage.
Tim Walker, Wildgoose managing director, said the company was
very pleased with the completed centre.
He said: "We are delighted to have completed this
state-of-the-art medical centre for Primary Horizons and the
residents of Crich.
"We are especially pleased to have once again worked
successfully with the client's professional team, who have designed
a building which is not only fit for purpose, but will also be
enjoyed and admired by all that use it.
He added: "This is the 35th medical centre completed by
Wildgoose and we are proud to be recognised as one of the market
leaders in this field, by both clients and professionals involved
in the provision of primary healthcare in the UK."
