National property and construction consultancy Wakemans has been
appointed on three key projects in the Caernarfon area - the
redevelopment of a tennis centre, a major housing refurbishment
scheme and a community centre extension.
Wakemans has had an office in the area for over 40 years and
currently works with a range of private and public sector
clients.
Working on behalf of Gwynedd Council, Wakemans acted as
designer, project manager and CDM co-ordinator and provided
architectural services on the redevelopment of Arfon Tennis Centre
in Caernarfon. The works were scheduled in three phases, enabling
Arfon Tennis Centre to stay open seven days a week, with all
facilities in use, throughout the 20-week construction
programme.
At Maes Heulog, Maesincla, Wakemans acted as designer and
project manager on the refurbishment of 35 homes for Cartrefi
Cymunedol Gwynedd (CCG).
Following the transfer of housing stock from Gwynedd Council in
2010, the housing association will invest £136 million over
the next four years to ensure all its 6,300 homes reach the Welsh
Housing Quality Standard. The £770,000 project at Maes Heulog
which included funding from the Welsh Government's Arbed scheme saw
tenants' homes being made more energy efficient.
