Tyre firm treads the expansion path

An expanding tyre firm has rolled out a new site in Redditch - with a bit of a push from property agents John Truslove.

The facility at Unit 29, Crossgate Road Industrial Estate, is Birmingham-based Lodge Tyre's 11th around the region.

The firm, which employs 110 people, remains on the look out for more.

And, according to Mr Truslove, they secured a keen deal - a three year lease at £2 per sq ft.

There are just two units left on the estate, available at the same price.

"It represents very good value," added Mr Truslove. "Lodge Tyre spotted the opportunity and grabbed it.

"They are a go-ahead firm who I am sure will make a success of the operation."

Martin Lodge, chairman of Lodge Tyre, said: "We are expanding our focus into new areas and that continues to be the case.

"But we always look to get any new sites established before considering further expansion.

"We believe Redditch will prove an excellent location for us."

Lodge Tyre, which supplies tyres of all kinds including car, van, commercial and plant, already has outlets in Birmingham, Alsager, Coventry, Leicester, Northampton, Nottingham, Stafford, Stoke on Trent, Telford, and Walsall.

It operates a fleet of more than 50 fully equipped breakdown vans which offer a 24 hour service.

The depots are primarily aimed at commercial customers, however all offer car tyres and car related services such as exhaust, battery and brake changes to the general public. Some also undertake MOTs and mechanical work.

Mr Lodge, whose business trades under the motto "big enough to cope - small enough to care", said: "Our retail strategy is aimed at tapping the potential of 'fast-fit' products and services. Through quality of service and competitive pricing we aim to retain and build on our loyal customer base.

"We will remain a family concern and are committed to the well being and future development of our staff. They are our most important asset.

"We take pride in being a Midlands-based business and serving the local communities within which we are based."

Lodge Tyre, with its headquarters at 25/29 Lord Street, Waterlinks, has been in business since 1936.

"Since then the company has grown immensely and we are intent on further growth," said Mr Lodge.
