Property professionals based at Blythe Valley Park dug deep during a charity away day in Solihull.

A team from Liberty Property Trust UK, developers and managers of the business park located off Junction 4 of the M42, got their hands dirty at Newlands Bishop Farm in Catherine de Barnes during an annual away day in memory of company founder Bill Rouse.

Kate Smith, of Liberty Property Trust, said the team, which was bolstered by volunteers from Whiting Landscapes, were delighted to spend the day gardening and decorating at an organisation providing a tremendous service in the community.

"Bill sadly passed away in 2004 and every year since around the time of his birthday the whole company in the US and UK take a day off to do something worthwhile in their community, to help others and to leave a lasting impression, as Bill did when he was alive," she said.

"This year everyone based at Blythe Valley Park chose to help a tremendous local project, Newlands Bishop Farm. The farm is a not-for-profit organisation which supports adults with learning difficulties and mental health problems and assists project workers in growing their own plants and vegetables to sell, as well as teaching carpentry skills and equine husbandry.

"It is such an inspirational place with some fantastic people behind it, from the volunteers and staff to the project workers - all of whom have such dedication to the farm.

"We'd like to thank everyone at Newlands Bishop Farm for making us feel so welcome and part of their team, the staff from Whiting Landscapes for joining us, and also Silverline Landlight and Adaptive Catering for kindly providing food on the day and Intex Projects for donating materials."

"Everyone put a lot of hard work in and had a great day and we look forward to returning to the farm again soon to see how everyone is getting on."

Helen Williams, deputy manager at Newlands Bishop Farm, added: "The team from Liberty Property Trust were really enthusiastic and integrated with the group well which made for a special day for everyone involved.

"The gardens are also looking lovely now so everyone is really chuffed with what was achieved during the day."
