Plans for a new £2.2m training facility for Beeston based
company Webs Training can now be finalised following the news that
funding for the project has been secured from the Skills Funding
Agency (SFA).
The new multi-million pound academy that has been designed by
Nottingham based CPMG Architects, will be located at Webs
Training's current site on Wollaton Road in Beeston and will
comprise of the refurbishment of an existing building and the
construction of a brand new facility.
A 1960's building situated to the front of the Wollaton Road
site will be demolished to make way for a new build facility that
will provide approximately 700m2 of high quality teaching, office
and facilities space. Holly Mill, a late Victorian lace mill
which also occupies the site, will be retained and completely
refurbished. This will include a change to the roof profile to
allow for the insertion of a mezzanine floor, creating a light and
airy workshop space for the apprentices to develop their skills.
The project is due to be completed in April 2012.
Webs Training Ltd is a national provider of quality apprentice
and adult training for the furniture and associated industries. The
new 1950m2 academy will represent a more effective use of space on
the site and will facilitate expansion of the core business
activity to allow the latest technologies and equipment to be
incorporated.
Peter Sisson, Director at Webs Training Ltd said: "We are very
excited about this latest development at Webs. The whole team have
worked very hard to raise the profile and performance of the
business with this culminated in us achieving 'grade 1-outstanding'
during our recent Ofsted inspection. The new building will be the
icing on the cake, giving us state of the art facilities to match
the teaching and allow us to further expand the business."
Nick Gregory, Director at CPMG said; "We are delighted to be
helping Webs with their new facilities and the opportunity to
breathe new life into Holly Mills is very exciting. There is a long
history of furniture manufacture in this part of Nottingham and it
is fantastic that Webs will be maintaining that tradition in
Beeston."
