Maynard is Golden destination for walks

Any time of year is the perfect time for a picturesque walk around the Peak District, and there are few better places to do this than at The Maynard in Grindleford. Located right in the heart of walking country, The Maynard is now listed in the Golden Miles book, designed to provide great local walking, eating and drinking options, and in aid of Bluebell Wood Children's Hospice.

Created as a fundraising vehicle for Bluebell Wood Hospice, the book serves as a handy guide for walkers, offering amazing walking locations throughout the Peak District and travelling through 20 villages in Derbyshire. The Maynard is both supporting the hospice directly through helping raise funds, and features in the book itself. As well as the many walks which have been published by The Maynard (see George's Walks on The Maynard's website), the Golden Miles Guide offers just one more adventure for ramblers to enjoy when staying or eating at The Maynard.

"The Maynard is in spectacular surroundings for those who love walking, and we all wanted to do that little bit more for our customers to help them make the most of their visit, especially those visiting the Peak District for the first time," says Jane Hitchman, director at the Maynard and sister site Whirlowbrook Hall. "With such vast open countryside to explore, it can be daunting for walkers as they may not know the best routes to take. Being featured in the Golden Miles book not only shows our support for local charities such as Bluebell Wood, but also illustrates some of the many walks available to explore on our doorstep."

Following a major hotel and restaurant refurbishment, The Maynard has been transformed, with a contemporary, but classic interior complementing the Victorian building to perfection. Walkers are assured of a warm welcome, from the experienced rambler to the social walker. For those seeking to satisfy their hunger after walking, all dishes at The Maynard are reasonably priced; so eating at one of the few restaurants in the whole of South Yorkshire and north Derbyshire with two AA rosettes has never been so affordable - or enjoyable.

The Golden Miles book is available to purchase from The Maynard, priced just £10.
