Local pub entrepreneurs roar life back into The Lion

Staffordshire based pub moguls Tony Walsh and business partner, Kevin Brook have linked up with Kevin Twigger, Principal of local multi disciplined development practice based in Brewood, and are set to open the doors of the fully refurbished, Lion Hotel in Brewood to the public, on Thursday 14th July, to unveil its new look.

As owner of not only the architects responsible for the refurbishment, but the Lion Hotel building itself too, Kevin Twigger has played a unique and integral role in the refurbishment of the Lion Hotel and has made a substantial investment in its development.

Following months of planning, partial demolition, rebuilding and re-design of the interior, the imposing 18th century building, formerly known as The Giffard Arms and Red Lion has undertaken an extensive renovation preserving existing period features such as wooden beams in the bedrooms, whilst incorporating contemporary décor and finishes.

Tony Walsh, Director of the Lion Hotel, said, "We are thrilled to be opening up this unique offering to Brewood and the surrounding area. Our aim is to provide high quality dining and accommodation serving the tourist, business and destination weekend break markets. The new look Lion hotel will offer fine dining with professionally trained uniformed waiting staff and highly skilled chefs who will be creating exquisite dishes using the finest local produce. Our menu will be regularly updated and will encompass traditional classics - fine cuts of meat, grills, fish and contemporary dishes so there will be something for every palette.

"The Lion Hotel will also offer boutique en suite accommodation with eleven individually styled double rooms as well as a fully functioning meeting room with wi-fi and large flat screens for business use."

General manager, Kevin Brook added, "The striking historic building and location of the Lion Hotel, were key factors in the decision by Kevin Twigger to regenerate the Market Square for the benefit of the village. The site is full of character, located in easy access of beautiful countryside and convenient for transport links. With many tourist attractions on the doorstep, this all encompassing site will offer something for locals, tourists and businesses alike.

"Our launch night is happening on Thursday 14th July and we are welcoming members of the public, local businesses and press to come along to the Lion to enjoy complimentary refreshments and be part of the grand unveiling due to take place from 6pm."

The Lion Hotel refurbishment has involved considerable investment for the restoration of the building with in excess of 30 local jobs being created.
