Kilnworx steps up the heat on marketing

The proposed new climbing centre for Burlsem, Stoke on Trent is already capturing the attention of residents across the city and throughout Staffordshire as this is set to be a leading social enterprise and sporting facility in the area.

Interest in Kilnworx is heating up with the appointment of a city agency to handle the marketing activity for Kilnworx, the name of the new climbing centre. Atelier Eighty Two Limited of Manchester fought off competition from four other agencies to secure the marketing and pr contract from the new social enterprise.  They have been charged with raising the profile of the climbing centre on a local and regional level to engage with the local community as well as practiced climbers.

Work on Wycliffe Hall, the historic building in Burslem that will house the venture will commence in the coming weeks. Following significant private and European investment as part of the wide regeneration plans for Burslem, the process of developing the business concept and raising the finance for the climbing centre has been tough, especially in the current climate. The centre also has plans to include a number of other activities that don't currently feature well in the city.

The people behind the venture with the aid of the marketing company are creating a social media community for others to follow the developments and progress of the climbing centre via a photo diary on the photo sharing network Flickr and storyboarded on blog site Wordpress.

Jin Sandhu, Director of Kilnworx said "we're really confident in a city agency spearheading the marketing campaign for the climbing centre. As a social enterprise we're keen to engage with the local community and create a more "social" aspect to the enterprise that's in-keeping with our company ethos."

Atelier Eighty Two Limited has generated great results for other social enterprises using a integrated strategy with traditional and digital media and has vast experience of working with new start up businesses.  As with other similar work with social enterprises it's expected that Atelier Eighty Two will be developing a launch event and organising some giveaways in the run up to the opening.
