Older people in Banbury will be able to enjoy independent living
in the wider community thanks to a new extra care scheme being
fitted out by J S Wright.
The Birmingham mechanical services specialist has won a contract
worth in the region of £750,000 with Solihull-based Barteak
Developments to equip the £9.7million development at
Stanbridge Hall in Ruskin Road for social enterprise Housing
21.
J S Wright will be designing and installing low-pressure hot
water heating, as well as low surface temperature radiators, heat
recovery ventilation, and domestic water, soil and waste, sanitary
ware and gas services.
Work will start on site this July on the new facility, which is
being built on the former Stanbridge Hall site of Banbury School.
The building will retain its iconic 1930s facade.
Stanbridge Hall will provide 70 self-contained rented and shared
ownership apartments for the over 55s. It will also have a shop,
restaurant and a hair & beauty salon as well as a
£500,000 day centre funded by Oxfordshire County Council when
completed in February 2012.
The apartments at the scheme, which has received funding of
£5 million from the Homes and Communities Agency, will each
have a fully fitted kitchen, walk-in shower and non-slip flooring
to the kitchen and bathroom areas.
Stanbridge Hall is J S Wright's first commission from Barteak
Developments and its fifth project in less than two years for
Housing 21, having equipped its new extra care schemes at
Brownhills in Walsall and Short Heath in Willenhall and a
residential care home those with dementia at Goscote.
J S Wright is currently work on site at an extra care scheme at
Oak Lane in Sandwell for Housing 21, with completion scheduled for
the end of the year.
Marcus Aniol, Managing Director of J S Wright, said: "We are
delighted to have been appointed by Barteak Developments for our
fifth Housing 21 project in two years. The contract strengthens our
reputation as a nationwide leader in extra care housing."
