HSBC has appointed Dan Wright as Deputy Head of Corporate Banking in the Midlands, extending the bank's commitment to the region. Dan joins Ian Stitt as a second deputy head of corporate banking, reporting to Maurice Heath. His appointment follows growth in the number of experienced relationship managers the bank has in the Midlands.

Dan joined HSBC in 1991 and brings over 20 years banking experience to his new role. He has worked in a number of senior roles across the Midlands, and most recently led the HSBC Corporate Banking office in Sheffield. His corporate experience includes FTSE 250 refinancing, cross border funding solutions and High Yield Bond and private equity backed transactions.

In his new role Dan will assist the bank's Global Corporate Managers in ensuring that HSBC continues to meet the needs of their diverse range of corporate clients. Based in Birmingham, he will help the bank in particular to focus on corporate businesses either already trading extensively in, or looking to move into international markets.

Also joining HSBC in the Midlands is Tom Clamp. Tom takes on the role of Associate Director in the Leveraged Finance team, originating, assessing and executing deals as part of the five-strong team led by Graham Young.

Tom, a chartered accountant, joins the bank from Deloitte's Corporate Finance Advisory team in Birmingham where he was Assistant Director. Through five years Corporate Finance experience he has gained exposure to a wide range of transactions including corporate disposals, corporate acquisitions and sponsor -backed acquisitions across the region.

Maurice Heath, HSBC Head of Corporate Banking, Midlands, said: "Dan is an experienced corporate banker and his appointment further strengthens HSBC's Midlands Corporate Banking team. As our team continues to expand, it is important that we match business growth with enhanced leadership support for our relationship management team and our customers.

"There is renewed confidence amongst many of our customers in the Midlands, with some simply preparing for better times ahead and other actively seeking out new international markets. Therefore, it is vital that the bank has the right resources to provide the high level support needed globally and locally, speedily and effectively. Dan will help us to continue to achieve this."

Commenting on Tom's appointment to the Leveraged team, Graham Young, HSBC Head of Leveraged Finance, Midlands, added: "Tom's transaction experience, strong analytical and financial modelling skills and strong network of contacts in the Corporate Finance community mean he is ideally placed to help us enhance our capability to service the increasing number of transactions originating both within Birmingham's vibrant professional community and across the UK."
